Abstract:

In this article, the impact of the logistics industry on foreign trade in Turkey has been examined. As a result of the research, the conclusion that the logistics sector has an effect on foreign trade was reached. In the article, monthly data covering the years January 2000-December 2020 were used to examine the relationship between logistics and Turkey's foreign trade. Variance decomposition and impact-response analyzes were done by creating a VAR model suitable for Turkey's foreign trade, logistics transportation and industrial production index of Turkey. According to the results of the econometric analysis, it was concluded that foreign trade is closely related to all forms of logistics transportation and industrial production index. The foreign trade variable generally reacted positively to the shocks given to the railway, maritime, airway, road and industrial production indices. When the Variance Decomposition results are examined, foreign trade has the second largest explanatory share in a shock given to different transportation modes such as railway, seaway, airway and road variables.
