Abstract:

This study brings the perspective of space closer to Pierre Bourdieu and Bourdieu's perspective closer to space. For this purpose, firstly, the conceptions of space are explained. Secondly, Bourdieu's perspective and the conception of space are tried to be combined. Finally, it focuses on the result that emerges from these two combinations. Starting from absolute, sacred, historical, abstract, contradictory, differential space, a theoretical discussion is constructed and then heterotopia and common space are reached. After discussing the relationship between space and capital, loose space and open-ended space are presented as a way out. The theoretical knowledge on space is combined with Bourdieu's concepts of space, social capital, cultural capital, economic capital, symbolic capital, habitus, doxa and illusion. What kind of Bourdieu emerges when we think with spatial concepts or what kind of space emerges when we think with Bourdieu constitute the main problems of the research. As a result, when the ways in which habitus and capitals are constructed are considered from the perspective of space, space opens up to otherness and positive encounters.
