17. yüzyılda Roma'da Via Appia'da bulunmuş ve günümüzde British Museum'da korunmakta olan eser, bir adak kabartmasıdır. Adak kabartmaları, tanrıya şükretmek ya da dilekte bulunmak adına sunulan ve, adakta bulunulan konuyu simgesel yolla aktarıldığı eserlerdir. Prieneli Arkhelaos isminde bir heykeltraş tarafından yapıldığı yazıtı sayesinde kanıtlanabilmektedir. Adak steli üzerinde şiir yarışmasında galibiyet kazanan bir şair tarafından adak olarak sunulmuştur. Stel üzerinde toplam dört sıradan oluşan frizlerde Sanatsal esinin simgesi olarak kabul edilen, Apollon ve Mousalar, en altta Homeros'un apotheosisi betimlenmiştir. Homeros şairlerin esin kaynağı olarak burada yüceltilmekte ve tanrısal onurlar verilmektedir. Stelin en üst bölümünde sanatsal esinin simgelyen tanrıların anne ve babası olarak Zeus ve Mnemosyne hepsinin üzerinde hakim konumda betimlenmiştir. Adakta bulunan şairin kendisi de tüm bu sahnelerin dışında yanda bir heykel gibi betimlenmiştir. Bu adak stelinin temsil ettiği konuların simgesel anlatımları yoluyla yarışmada galibiyet kazanan şairin esin kaynakları ve kendisini onlarla ilişkili olarak anlatması dönemin sanat dilini yansıtır. Ayrıca heykeltraşlık açısından da dönemin form ve stil özelliklerinin özenle uygulanması eserin anlamına katkıda bulunmaktadır. Arkhelaos kabartması tüm bu sanatsal ve ikonografik özellikleriyle, Hellenistik Sanat ve Estetik anlayışının bir yansıması olarak kabul edilmektedir
It was found in Rome in the 17th century at Via Appia and is now preserved at the British Museum. The adak baptisms are works presented in the name of thanking or praying to God, and the subject of the adak is transmitted in symbolic way. Prieneli Arkhelaos is proven by a sculptor's writing. It is presented as an adak by a poet who won the poetry contest on the adak steli. Considered as the symbol of the artistic work in a total of four ordinary frizes formed on Stel, Apollon and Mouses are depicted at the bottom of Homeros' apotheosis. Homeros are praised here as the source of inspiration for the poets and the divine honors are given. In the upper part of Stalin, the symbolic art is depicted in the dominant position of Zeus and Mnemosyne as the mother and father of the gods. The poet himself, except for all these scenes, is depicted as a statue on the side. The symbolic narratives of the subjects represented by this adak stalin reflects the inspiration sources of the poet who won the contest through the symbolic narratives of the subjects and the art language of the period in relation to them. In addition, from the point of view of sculpture, the careful application of the form and style characteristics of the period contributes to the meaning of the work. The Arkhelaos bubble, with all these artistic and iconographic characteristics, is seen as a reflection of the Hellenistic Art and Aesthetic Understanding.
