Abstract:

This study is aimed at showing the development of tourism education by studying the prepared theses in the data base of the YÖK National Thesis Scanning Center. For this purpose, in the field of tourism education in the YÖK National Thesis Scanning Center was scaned with the keyword "turism education"; 191 theses were found but the results of the studies were found that 139 theses were related to tourism education. The results of the scan of the theses in the field of tourism education have been achieved by bibliometric analysis in terms of various parameters. Parameters are university, institute, academic level, keywords, years, page number, research method and thesis topics. The results of the analysis determined that the most of the theses were written; at the master level, at the University of Gazi, at the Social Sciences Institute, between 2015-2019, in the range of 101-150 pages, with quantitative methods, the key word of tourism education and the general tourism education. In general, the theses written on tourism education showed a great increase after the year 2000, the theses on tourism education focused more on the bachelor's level, and the theses on the subject of postgraduate tourism education were not written. In this context, the study has made a general assessment of tourism education in Turkey and a perspective for new research to be done.
