Abstract:

Sebilürreşad, the Year of Turkish Language Studies, has poems and writings published in magazines such as Belleten, Naîm Hâzım Onat, a specialist in Arabic language and literature, who has many words in Turkish language and has enough poems to form a divan. More than his academic work and knowledge of the language Naîm Hâzım, in his poems published in Sebilürreşad, primarily religious and national subjects. In his poems in Sebilürreşad, the poet, mostly using the signature of Ibni Hâzım Naîm, in his poems written in religious and national matters, but in his poems on his personal life, directly or indirectly contacted the rebellions in the Balkans, and deeply felt the psychological destruction that the rebellions and land losses led to the nation. The other subjects that Naim Hâzim puts on the importance of his poems published in Sebilürreşad are tenderness, negligence, retardation and education. These are the poems of Muhammad al-Mahdi. In his poems, he emphasizes that in comparison with today, the works and achievements of our ancestors in the fields of science and art should be taken as an example by the new generations. The reason for the superiorities achieved in science and art in the past is to the correct understanding of the truths of the Qur’an and to the practice of their judgments. In this article, the poems published in Sebilürreşad of Naîm Hâzım, Religion and Ethics Theme Poems, Fatherland, Nation and Hürriyet Theme Poems, Personal Life Theme Poems, Hikemî Poems, Love and Nature Theme Poems are classified and studied in terms of content, thus more of the works in the field of linguistic science and the attention to the literary aspect of Naîm Hâzım Onat, recognized by the proposal of the Atatürk surname for Mustafa Kemal.
