Bu araştırmanın amacı, Ortak Bilgi Yapılandırma Modeli (OBYM)’ne dayalı fen öğretiminin sekizinci sınıf öğrencilerinin sosyobilmsel konular hakkındaki görüşlerine yansımasını incelemektir. Bu araştırmada, nitel araştırma yaklaşımlarından özel durum yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma, 2017-2018 eğitim-öğretim yılında ortaokul sekizinci sınıfta öğrenim gören 25 öğrenci ile yürütülmüştür. Çalışma grubu içinde belli kriterlere göre seçilen altı öğrenci ile uygulama öncesi ve sonrasında görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Araştırmada veriler, Sosyobilimsel Konular İle İlgili Yarı Yapılandırılmış Mülakat (SOBMÜ) formu ile toplanmıştır. Betimsel ve içerik analiz yöntemi kullanılarak veriler analiz edilmiştir. Uygulama öncesinde öğrencilerin antibiyotik kullanımı, grip aşıları, zayıflama hapları, aile planlaması ve Genetiği Değiştirilmiş Organizmalar (GDO) konusunda yeterli düzeyde bilimsel bilgiye sahip olmadıkları tespit edilmiştir. Uygulamadan sonra öğrencilerin sosyobilmsel konularda bilimsel açıklamalar yaptığı görülmüştür. Öğrenciler uygulama öncesinde zayıflama haplarını kullanarak zayıflayacakları yönünde görüş beyan ederken, uygulamadan sonra zayıflama haplarını kullanmayacakları ifade etmişlerdir. Öğrenciler, uzmanların önerdiği doğal yollarla zayıflamanın sağlık açısından daha uygun olduğunu belirtmişlerdir. OBYM’ ye dayalı fen öğretiminin sosyobilmsel konular üzerinde etkisinin daha net olarak görülebilmesi için farklı öğretim kademelerinde öğrenim gören öğrenciler ile nicel temelli çalışmaların yapılması önerilmektedir.
The aim of this research is to study the reflection of the views of the science teaching based on the Common Information Structural Model (OBYM) of eighth-class students on sociological subjects. In this study, a specific state method of quality research approaches was used. The research was carried out with 25 students who studied in secondary school eighth class in the 2017-2018 educational-learning year. In the study group, six students selected according to certain criteria were discussed before and after the application. In the study, the data was collected in the form of a semi-structured interview (SOBMU) related to social issues. The data was analyzed using the visual and content analysis method. Before the application, students were found not to have sufficient scientific knowledge about antibiotic use, flu vaccines, weight loss pills, family planning and genetically modified organisms (GMOs). After the application, students were shown to make scientific explanations on social subjects. Students have expressed their opinion that they will lose weight by using weight loss pills before the application, while they have stated that they will not use weight loss pills after the application. Students have pointed out that weakening by the natural ways suggested by experts is more suitable for health. It is recommended that quantum-based studies are conducted with students studying at different levels of teaching in order to see more clearly the impact of the science teaching on social subjects based on OBYM.
The purpose of this study is to examine the reflection of science education based on the Common Knowledge Construction Model (CKCM) on the views of eighth grade students on socio-scientific issues. The study employed action research method and it carried out with 25 middle school students during the 2017-2018 academic year. Interviews were conducted with six students selected according to certain criteria within the study group before and after the application. The data were collected through a Semi-Structured Interview form which explores Socio-scientific Issues. Data were analyzed using descriptive and content analysis method. It was determined that students did not have sufficient scientific knowledge about antibiotic use, flu vaccines, slimming pills, family planning and Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO) before the implementation. After the implementation, students were able to make scientific explanations on socio-scientific issues. While the students expressed slimming pills could be helpful for losing weight at the onset of the study, they stated that they would not use the slimming pills after the implementation. The students stated that experts’ advice should be taken into account in weight-loss programmes. Quantitative research is important to understand the impact of CKCM-based science teaching on socio-scientific issues on students studying at different levels of education.
