Araştırma, Türkçe öğretmeni adaylarının genel kültür düzeylerini belirlemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Tarama modelinde tasarlanan araştırmanın çalışma grubu; Gazi, Hatay Mustafa Kemal ve Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal Üniversitesinin eğitim fakültelerinde Türkçe eğitimi ana bilim dallarında öğrenim gören 287 öğrenciden meydana gelmektedir. Çalışmada, öğrencilerin genel kültür düzeylerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla, ulusal bir radyo kanalında yayımlanan bir bilgi yarışmasında yarışmacılara sorulan açık uçlu sorulardan yararlanılmıştır. 26 açık uçlu sorudan oluşan “Genel Kültür Düzeyi Testi” çalışmanın veri toplama aracını oluşturmuştur. Sorular tarih, coğrafya, edebiyat, fen/teknoloji, ekonomi/politika, sanat ve spor olmak üzere 7 kategoride sorulmuştur. Araştırma sonuçlarına göre öğretmen adaylarının ortalama başarılarının %48 olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Türkçe öğretmeni adaylarının en başarılı olduğu alanın %67,8 ile edebiyat; en başarısız olduğu alanın ise %36,2 ile ekonomi/politika olduğu belirlenmiştir. Araştırmada, üniversite bağımsız değişkenine göre, öğrencilerin genel kültür puanları açısından Gazi Üniversitesi ile Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal Üniversitesi arasında Gazi Üniversitesi lehine bir farkın ortaya çıktığı, Hatay Mustafa Kemal Üniversitesi ile diğer üniversiteler arasında bir farkın oluşmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Sınıf düzeyine göre 4. sınıf öğrencilerinin; cinsiyet değişkenine göre ise erkeklerin daha başarılı olduğu saptanmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlar, Türkçe öğretmeni adaylarının genel kültür bilgisi açısından kendilerini geliştirmeleri gerektiğini göstermektedir.
The research aims to determine the general cultural levels of the Turkish teacher candidates. The work group of the research designed in the screening model; Gazi, Hatay Mustafa Kemal and Bolu Abant Izzet Baysal University's educational faculty consist of 287 students studying in the main disciplines of Turkish education. The study took advantage of the open-end questions asked to the competitors in an information competition published on a national radio channel in order to determine the student’s overall cultural levels. The "General Culture Level Test" formed the data collection tool of the study, consisting of 26 open end questions. Questions were asked in 7 categories: History, Geography, Literature, Science/Technology, Economy/Politics, Art and Sport. According to the research, the average success of teachers candidates was 48%. The area where the Turkish teacher candidates are most successful is literature with 67.8%, and the area where the most failed is economics/politics with 36.2%. In the study, according to the university's independent variable, there was a difference between the University of Gazi and Bolu Abant Izzet Baysal University in terms of the overall cultural scores of students, and there was no difference between Hatay Mustafa Kemal University and other universities. The fourth grade students were found to be more successful, while men were more successful according to the gender variable. The results obtained show that the candidates for Turkish teachers need to improve themselves in terms of general cultural knowledge.
The research aims to determine the general knowledge level of Turkish pre-service teachers. The working group of the research, which is designed as a survey research, consists of 287 students studying in Turkish education departments of the education faculties of Gazi University, Hatay Mustafa Kemal University, and Abant İzzet Baysal University. In the study, open-ended questions, which were asked to the contestants in a quiz show on a national radio channel, were used in order to determine the general knowledge level of the students. The "General Knowledge Level Test", consisting of 26 open-ended questions, is the data collection tool of the study. The questions were asked in 7 categories, which consist of history, geography, literature, science/technology, economy/politics, arts, and sports. According to the results of the research, the average success level of pre-service teachers is 48%. It was found that 67.8% of the students answered literature questions, and 36.2% of students answered economy/politics questions correctly, so the field in which students mostly succeeded is literature, and the field in which students mostly failed is economy/politics. When university is taken as an independent variable, it is seen that there is a statistically meaningful difference between Gazi University and Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University in favor of Gazi University in terms of students' general knowledge scores. There is not a statistically meaningful difference between Hatay Mustafa Kemal University and other universities. According to the grade level variable, 4th grade students are the most successful; according to the gender variable, male students are the most successful. These results show that Turkish pre-service teachers should improve themselves in terms of general knowledge.
