Abstract:

In this study, Karaman's Sarıveliler district's colour names are addressed in terms of the use frequency, the type of place name it creates, the meaning and function it adds to the place name. The methods used are compilation and scanning. The material is obtained from maps, official sources and field collections. There are 191 places in which the colour is associated. The most common names are the places (51). In these names, 14 different color names (ac, acca, ala, boz, heaven, heaven, body, black, rural, red, red, root, yellow, green) have been used 7 separate words (ear, light, sun, light, light, dark, blind) referring to color. The number of places created by the main colors is 163. Black and red are the most popular colors. Colors are in most land names (122) in the function of "transmitting the basic nature of something". Except for the two words used as the color name, all of them are Turkish. The names identified in the district indicate that the local people's land-naming attitude is not separated from the Turkish culture.

Abstract:

In this study, color names seen in the place names of Sarıveliler district are discussed in terms of frequency, type of location, meaning and function they add to the name of place. Documentary scanning method and compilation method are used in this study. The material is obtained from maps, official sources and field collections. 191 place names have been found based on color in Sarıveliler. The most encountered is the name of position. In these names 7 words (arap, aydınlık, gün, ışıklı, ışılık, karanlık, kör) are used to indicate color with 14 different color names (ak, akça, ala, boz, gök, gökçe, göv, kara, kır, kızıl, kızılca, kök, sarı, yeşil). The number of place names created with base colors are 163. White, land, red are the most used colors. Colors are used for the function of “transferring the basic attribute of something” in the most of place names. Except for two of the words used as color name (arap, kör), all are in Turkish. The names found in Sarıveliler indicate that the place names of the people of the region is not disconnected from Turkish culture.
