Abstract:

This research was conducted to determine whether the parents’ attitudes and social skills of the children living in the village and town, who continue to be parent, and whether certain variables create differences in their social skills. The research was carried out in the villages connected to the Konya or Women's District, with 140 rural children continuing their motherhood and 180 children continuing their motherhood in the Konya or Karatay District, a total of 320 children. The study used the "Social Skills Evaluation Scale" to determine children's social skills, the "Personal Information Form" prepared by the researcher to obtain some information about children and their families, and the "Mother-Father Styles and Dimensions Scale" to determine parents' attitude. The study found that the democratic mother’s attitude from the parent’s attitudes, the gender of the children, the mother’s level of education and the number of brothers lead to significant differences in the social skills of the children in the city centre. From the parents’ attitudes it has been found that the democratic father’s attitude, the authoritative mother-father attitude, the permissive mother-father attitude, the age of the children, the age of the parents, the profession of the parents, the level of father education do not lead to a significant difference in the social skills of the children. From the parents’ attitudes, it has been found that the democratic parents’ attitude, the authoritative parents’ attitude, the permissive father’s attitude, causes a significant difference in the social skills of the children in the village center. It has been shown that the permissive mother’s attitude, the age, the gender, the age of the parents, the educational status of the parents, the profession of the parents and the number of brothers do not make a significant difference in the social skills of the children.
