Öğretmen Adaylarının Hayat Boyu Öğrenme ve Yetişkin Eğitimi Dersine Yönelik Görüşleri

21. yüzyılda genç nesilleri hayata hazırlamak ve bir ömür boyu kişisel, sosyal ve psikolojik açıdan gelişimsel gereksinimlerini karşılayabilmelerini desteklemek için hayat boyu öğrenme ve yetişkin eğitimi konusunda bilinç oluşturmak bir gereklilik taşımaktadır. Bu düşünceler temelinde YÖK, eğitim fakülteleri için hazırladığı yeni lisans programlarında Yetişkin Eğitimi ve Hayat Boyu Öğrenme isimli bir seçmeli ders oluşturmuştur. Bu çalışmanın amacı öğretmen adaylarının söz konusu derse yönelik görüşlerini belirlemektir. Hedeflenen amaç doğrultusunda planlanan nitel araştırma kapsamında, 2018-2019 eğitim-öğretim yılı güz döneminde Pamukkale Üniversitesi Eğitim Fakültesinde farklı bölümlerde öğrenim görmekte olan 222 öğretmen adayının açık uçlu sorularla yazılı görüşleri alınmıştır. Elde edilen veriler içerik analizi ile analiz edilmiş ve temalara ulaşılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda öğretmen adaylarının büyük çoğunluğunun bu dersten haberdar olmadığı belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca katılımcılar dersin gerekliliğini, dersi seçmeyi düşünme nedenlerini ve dersten beklentilerini bireysel, sosyal, mesleki nedenler gibi çeşitli gerekçelerle dile getirmişlerdir. Sonuçlar alanyazın ışığında tartışılmış ve konuyla ilgili yapılacak yeni çalışmalara ve uygulamalara yönelik çeşitli öneriler sunulmuştur.

Teachers' Opinions on Lifelong Learning and Adult Education Course

Abstract:

In the 21st century, it is a need to prepare young generations for life and build awareness of lifelong learning and adult education to help them meet their lifelong personal, social and psychological developmental needs. Based on these ideas, YÖK has created a selectively-called course called Adult Education and Lifelong Learning in its new bachelor’s programmes for educational faculty. The purpose of this study is to determine the opinions of the teachers candidates to the subject. In the framework of the qualitative research planned in accordance with the target, in the 2018-2019 educational year, the written opinions of 222 teachers candidates who are studying in different departments at the Pamukkale University Education Faculty were taken with open end questions. The data obtained was analyzed through content analysis and reached themes. The study found that the majority of the teachers are not aware of this course. Participants have also expressed the need for the course, the reasons to think about the choice of the course and their expectations from the course for various reasons, such as individual, social, and professional reasons. The results were discussed in the light of the area and various recommendations for new studies and practices to be made on the subject were presented.

In the 21st century, it is necessary to raise awareness of lifelong learning and adult education in order to prepare young generations for life and fulfill their lifelong developmental needs in personal, social, and psychological areas. On the basis of these considerations, Turkish Council of Higher Education has created a professional knowledge elective course titled Adult Education and Lifelong Learning in the updated undergraduate curriculum prepared for the faculties of education. The aim of this study is to determine the views of pre-service teachers about the particular course. Within the scope of the qualitative research, the views of 222 pre-service teachers from different departments of Pamukkale University Faculty of Education were collected by the means written open-ended questions. The data were analyzed by content analysis and the themes were reached. Findings revealed that most of the pre-service teachers were not aware of this course. In addition to this, participants expressed their reasoning for the necessity, the reasons to select, and their expectations from the course individual, social and professional levels. Results were interpreted in accordance with the contemporary literature followed by the theoretical and practical implications.
