Abstract:

Figani was one of the important representatives of the classical Turkish poetry of the XVIth century. Executed at a young age because of a Persian couplet attributed to him. He could not find the opportunity to bring his poems together and arrange a diwan. Figani’s poems are found together with the poems of other poets in various poetry macmuas. This situation increased the possibility of mixing Figani’s poems with the poems of other poets. The ghazel, which numbered XXIIth in the Figani’s Diwan was introduced to Nikabi’s ghazel in Pervane Bey’s Macmua of Nazeerah. Also, the first couplet of this ghazel was introduced to Nikabi’s couplet in Sehi Bey’s Heşt-Bihişt, Latifi’s Tezkiretü’ş-Şu‘ara, Aşık Çelebi’s Meşaʽir’ş-Şu‘ara and Gelibolulu Ali’s Künhü’l-Ahbar. Hisali’s macmua of nazeerah which called Metaliʽu’n-Neza’ir was another source attributing the first couplet of this ghazel to Nikabi. In this work, the belonging of the ghazel, which numbered XXIIth in the Figani’s Diwan was re-evaluated. We expressed our opinions about who is the real owner of this ghazel could be. Sources of ghazel and copy differences have been compared to find out whose ghazel these is.
