Abstract:

This research was conducted to determine the "attitudes of students studying at universities in Turkey towards students from the Turkic world". In this context, it was investigated whether the opinions of the students change according to some variables. The study was conducted mainly by cross-sectional survey method. The sample group of the research is 314 students studying at a university in the west of Turkey. In order to determine the attitudes of the students, a questionnaire created by the researchers and containing 16 items was used. Mann Whitney U test was applied in the analysis of binary variables and Kruskall Wallis test was applied in the analysis of ternary variables. Students' responses to the items used to collect data in the questionnaire were calculated according to their average scores. According to the results, university students have a positive perception towards students from the Turkic world. However, it was observed that there were no significant differences on the basis of gender and class level variables. In the analysis of the data in terms of the faculty type variable, it was determined that there was a significant difference. This difference was found to be between the students of the faculty of arts and sciences and the students of the faculty of veterinary medicine and between the students of the faculty of sport sciences and the students of the faculty of veterinary medicine. As a result, it was found that the attitudes of university students towards students from the Turkic world are positive. However, in order to further improve this situation, it would be useful to organize various seminars and symposiums for university students and to increase the level of awareness on these issues.
