Abstract:

The aim of this study is to examine the general situation of the Science and Science teaching programmes located in the Education Faculty in Turkey in the last 5 years. The study used the method of document examination, and according to the results of the first placement and additional placement announced by the 2016-2020 UNHCR; science knowledge teaching, biology teaching, physics teaching and chemistry teaching departments; which universities are located, the general number of content, according to the results of the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS) and the number of students placed in these programs and the availability rates in each university based have been calculated separately by years. In the study, the number of teachers appointed by the Ministry of National Education (MEB) to the teaching of sciences was also examined with the same limitation of the same years. The analysis has shown that the total number of science teachings in the universities has decreased significantly over the past five years. According to the results of the university entrance exam, the availability rates of the relevant programs are examined, while in all branches there is a 100% rate in 2016; with the success ranking requirement in the university exam results implemented after 2017, the availability rates of students placed in the relevant programs in 2017 and 2018 have been reduced. Depending on the decrease in capacity rates, the number of containers has also been reduced in each program in 2019 the capacity rate tends to rise again, while from 2020 it has reaching the full capacity rate again.
