Kazancızâde Emin Edîb Efendi Osmanlı Devleti’nin son döneminde yaşamış Sivas’ın yetiştirdiği önemli münevverlerden biridir. Âile kökleri Buhâra’ya dayanan Emin Edîb Efendi Sivas Askeri Rüştiyesi’nde uzun yıllar Farsça muallimi ve Osmanlı Mebusan Meclisi’nde de iki dönem mebus olarak resmî görevde bulunmuştur. Resmî görevlerinin dışında Nakşbendî tarikatına müntesip mürşîd-i kâmil olan Emin Edîb Efendi’nin silsilesi şeyhi Muhammed Kemâhî kanalıyla Mevlânâ Hâlid-i Bağdâdî’ye ulaşır. Emin Edîb Efendi, Muhammed Kemâhî’nin 1313/1896’daki vefâtından sonra yirmi üç yıl irşad makamında kalmıştır. Emin Edîb Efendi’nin dînî ve tasavvufî yaklaşımlarının temelinde İmâm Gazâlî, Abdülkâdir Geylânî, Mevlânâ Celâleddîn-i Rûmî, Muhyiddin İbnü’l-Arabî, İbnü’l-Fârız, Mahmud Şebüsterî, Abdurrahman Câmî ve İsmail Hakkı Bursevî gibi tasavvuf alanının önemli şahısları yer almaktadır. Ekberî irfan geleneğinin yoğun etkisinde kalan Emin Edîb Efendi ‘vahdet-i vücûd’u manevî eğitimin nihayeti ve tevhidin zirve mertebesi olarak kabul etmiştir. Şiirlerinde ilâhi aşk ve vahdet-i vücûd neşvesini yoğun bir şekilde terennüm eden Emin Edîb Efendi sûfî kimliğinin yanısıra zâhirî ilimlerde de icâzet sahibi bir âlimdir. Bu yönüyle o, zâhir-bâtı, medrese-tekke ikilemini şahsiyetinde uyumlu hale getirmiştir. Arapça ve Farsça’ya eser yazacak seviyede vâkıf olan Emin Edîb Efendi bireylerin eğitimine özel önem vermiş, mürîdânını güzel ahlak anlayışına göre yetiştirmiştir.

Emin Edîb Efendi, who was heavily influenced by the Ekberî Irfan (wisdom) tradition, accepted the wahdat-i wujud ‘as the summit of spiritual education and the tawhid’ (oneness of God). In his poems, Emin Edîb Efendi, intensely chanting divine love and wahdat-i wujud, is a scholar in zahiri (outward) sciences besides his Sufi identity. In this regard, he got into the dilemma of zahir-bâtin (outward-inward sciences) and madrasa-tekke in his personality. Emin Edîb Efendi, who was proficient in Arabic and Persian to write his works in those languages, gave a special importance to the education of individuals and trained his followers considering the good morality.
