Abstract:

Bu araştırmanın amacı hemşirelik eğitimine yeni başlayan öğrencilerin meslek seçimini etkileyen faktörler ile boyun eğici davranışları arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesidir. Bunun yanında, öğrencilerin meslek seçimini etkileyen faktörler ile boyun eğici davranışlarının sosyodemografik ve meslek seçimi özelliklerine göre anlamlı düzeyde farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığı değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmanın örneklemini, 2016-2017 eğitim-öğretim yılında Türkiye’nin batısındaki bir Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesinde öğrenime başlayan 145 hemşirelik öğrencisi oluşturmuştur. Veriler, Kişisel Bilgi Formu, Hemşirelikte Meslek Seçimi Ölçeği (HMSÖ) ve Boyun Eğici Davranışlar Ölçeği (BEDÖ) kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan öğrencilerin HMSÖ “Mesleki Uygunluk” alt boyutu puan ortalaması 68,61±18,35, “Yaşamsal Nedenler” alt boyutu puan ortalaması 53,68±15,08 ve ölçek toplam puan ortalaması 63,34±12,55’tir. BEDÖ puan ortalaması 35,73±7,79’dur. Yapılan korelasyon analizi sonucunda BEDÖ puan ortalamaları ile HMSÖ’nin “Mesleki Uygunluk” alt boyutu ve ölçek toplam puan ortalaması arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki saptanmamıştır (p>0,05). Ancak öğrencilerin BEDÖ puan ortalamaları ile HMSÖ’nin “Yaşamsal Nedenler” alt boyutu puan ortalaması arasında pozitif yönlü (Boyun eğicilik arttıkça “Yaşamsal Nedenler” puanı artan) %15,3’lük ilişki, istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olmamakla birlikte anlamlılığa yakın bulunmuştur (r=0,153; p=0,066). Bu sonuçlar doğrultusunda mesleğin bilinçli tercih edilmesi, sevilmesi ve istenmesi için gerekli adımların atılması, meslek seçimi kararının öğrenci-aile-eğitimci/rehberlik üçgeni çerçevesinde gerçekleştirilmesi, eğitim kurumlarında öğrencilerde boyun eğiciliği azaltıcı, danışmanlık, liderlik, koordinatör rollerini geliştirici çalışmalara yer verilmesi önerilir.

Review of the relationship between the factors affecting the career choice of the new beginners of nursing education and the long-term educational behavior

The purpose of this study is to study the relationship between the factors that influence the career choice of newly beginners in nursing education and their behavior. In addition, it has been assessed whether the factors that influence the career choice and the behavior of the students are significantly differentiated according to the sociodemographic and the characteristics of the career choice. The sample of the study was made by 145 nursing students who began their studies at a Faculty of Health Sciences in the west of Turkey in the 2016-2017 educational year. The data is collected using the Personal Information Form, the Care Selection Scale in Nursing (HMSÖ) and the Change Behavior Scale (BEDÖ). The HMSÖ "Professional Compatibility" sub-dimensional score average of students involved in the study is 68,61±18,35, the "Life Causes" sub-dimensional score average is 53,68±15,08 and the scale total score average is 63,34±12,55. The BEDÖ score average is 35,73±7,79. As a result of the correlation analysis, there was no statistically meaningful relationship between the BEDÖ score average and the HMSÖ's "Professional Conformity" sub-dimensional and the scale total score average (p>0,05). However, the relationship between the students' BEDÖ score average and the HMSÖ's "Life Causes" sub-dimensional score average is positive (the "Life Causes" score increases as the sheep's training increases) of 15.3%, but statistically not meaningful (r=0.153; p=0.066). According to these results, it is recommended to take the necessary steps for the conscious selection, love and request of the profession, the decision of the choice of the profession is carried out in the framework of the student-family-educator/rehabilities triangle, the students in educational institutions should be involved in the developmental work of the role of counseling, leadership, coordinator.

The purpose of the study is to examine the correlation between factors affecting the choice of profession of freshmen in nursing education and their submissive behaviours. In addition, an evaluation is made to determine whether factors affecting the choice of profession of the students and their submissive behaviours significantly differentiated according to their sociodemographic and choice of profession characteristics or not. Study sample consists of 145 nursing students who started education in a Faculty of Health Sciences in the west of Turkey during the academic year of 2016-2017. Data is collected using Personal Information Form, Choice of Profession in Nursing Scale (CPNS) and Submissive Behaviours Scale (SBS). The students who participated in the study obtained 68.61±18.35 points from the lower dimension of “Professional Convenience” of the CPNS, 53.68±15.08 points from the lower dimension of “Vital Reasons” and 63.34±12.55 points from the total scale. Average SBS score is 35.73±7.79. As a result of the correlation analysis, it is determined that there is no statistically significant correlation between the SBS score averages and the lower dimension of “Professional Convenience” of the CPNS and the total score average of the scale (p>0.05). However, it is found that there is a positively 15,3% correlation between the SBS score averages of the students and the score average of the lower dimension of “Vital Reasons” of the CPNS (as submissiveness increased, the score of “Vital Reasons” increased), which is almost statistically significant (r=0.153; p=0.066). According to these results, it can be suggested to take necessary steps, make the choice of profession within the frame of the triangle of student-family-trainer/counsellor and provide studies to students in educational institutions that may reduce their submissiveness and develop their counselling, leadership and coordinatorship roles in order to choose and like the profession consciously.
