Florin-18-florodeoxyglucose is a method used for the diagnosis and evolution of cancer patients with a computer tomography (BT) along with Positron emission tomography (PET). In this study, we aimed at calculating the SUVmax values for semi-quantitative assessment in patients applied PET/IT study for the purpose of diagnosing lung injury and researching the levels of serum YKL-40 and ischemic modified album (IMA). Method and Requirements: A prospective case control study was carried out between July 2012 and July 2013. Patients who were suspected of lung injury were prospectively included in the study. This study analyzed 85 patients who applied routine PET/BT screening for suspicious masses in the lungs. In the pathological examination of lesions, 20 of the patients (23,5%) had beneficial lungs disease, 65 (76,5%) had AC. Moreover, 35 participants from the nearby patients were registered as a healthy control group. The maximum standardized intake values (SUVmax) were calculated in the patients applied in the PET/BT study and the values of YKL-40, ischemic modified albumin (IMA), carcinomembrional antigen (CEA) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) were measured in serum samples. In patients with AC, the average SUVmax values were higher (9.49±2.27 and 3.13±1.15) (p<0.001) compared to the benign lung disease group. Serum YKL-40 (71,42±7,65ng/L and 102,03±12,22 ng/L against 31,79±7,52 ng/L), IMA (0,90±0,16 and 0,84±0.09 against 0,70±0,08), LDH (268,00±63,30 U/L and 261. The values of 165,08,00±52,62 U/L against 03±65,02 U/L and CEA (4,60±1,10 ng/mL and 2,47±0,81 ng/mL against 1,9±0,41 ng/mL) were higher than the values of healthy people in patients with AC and benevolent lung disease (p<0.001). RELATED AND RESULTATED: Our results show that the levels of SUVmax and serum YKL-40 are higher in lungs cancer cases. SUVmax can be a useful measure to distinguish lung cancer from beneficial lung disease.
