Abstract:

This study aims to study the level of attitude of teachers candidates to the sports activities of mental disabled individuals. The attitude levels of participants were studied in terms of gender, age, section, regular sporting and family disability. In the research, the screening model was used. The research group, in the 2017-2018 educational year, formed a total of 510 volunteer teachers candidates, including 332 women, 178 men, who studied in the classroom education, special education and body education and sports teaching departments of the Faculty of Education and Sports Sciences of the University of Gazi. In determining the level of attitude of teachers candidates to the sporting activities of mental disabled individuals, the "Atitude Measurement to the sporting activities of mental disabled individuals" developed by Ilhan and Esentürk (2015) has been used. The SPSS 22.0 statistical package program was used to evaluate the data. As a result, female participants, compared to male participants, regular athletes and students studying in the private education department have higher levels of attitude than students studying in other departments. There was no significant difference in being a disabled person in the family. The teaching candidates have been found to have a medium level of attitude towards the sporting activities of mental disabilities.
