Objective: As one of the most important actors in health care providers, nurses affect the success of the hospitals in health care service provision and the provision of patient satisfaction. This study was conducted to assess the nursing services, and working conditions for nurses working in a university hospital. Method: The sample this study consists of nurses working in a university hospital. Data collection questionnaire was applied in May 2009. 131 nurses were reached after simple sampling out of 312 nurses working in the hospital other than those who did not agree to participate. The questionnaire was distributed to the nurses and collected on the same day. The data analysis was conducted using SPSS statistical software. Results: When the operating status of the participants’ was investigated 67.2% were found to stay permanent whereas 29.8% have been working under contract. 16% of the participants thought that nursing services were not effective whereas 13% thought that nursing services were very good. 26.7% of the participants stated that they had the opportunity to forward their problems to the management. 24.4% of the participants stated that they were planning to quit their job and 78.6% stated that they had no a special feeling of their institutions. Conclusion: In our study it was found out that the majority of nurses had not been motivated about corporative objectives, their working environment was not designed to improve their physical health, and they had no written job descriptions in the institution they work.
