Abstract:

This study aims to study the relationship between high school students’ environmental perspectives (ecosentric, antroposentric) and their thinking styles. The study also includes the determination of high school students’ environmental perspectives and thinking styles and the study of their environmental perspectives and thinking styles according to various variables. The sample of the research carried out with the detective correlational research model is made by 230 high school students studying in a city in the west of Turkey. The research data was collected using the personal information form, the New Environmental Paradigm [NEP] Scale (Dunlap, Van Liere, Mertig and Jones, 2000) and the Sternberg-Wagner Thinking Styles [SWDS] Scale. The correlation ratio is calculated to determine whether there is a relationship between the NEP and SWDS points. It has been determined that the average NEP scores of students are high and they have an ecosentric perspective. According to the SWDS subdimensions, the highest average was found to be the "legal and executive" subdimensions, while the lowest average was found to be the "conservative" subdimensions. The study found a positive, weak level relationship between the SWDS lawmakers, executive, judge, anarchist, internal and liberal sub-dimensions and the NEP points.
