Bu çalışma, Niccolò Machiavelli'nin siyaset felsefesinde, onun insan doğasına ait görüşlerinin nasıl bir etkisi olduğunu araştırmaktadır. Öncelikle Machiavelli'nin insan doğası düşüncesi ve Machiavelli düşüncesinde virtu ve fortuna kavramları Rönesans'ın felsefi temelleri ve o dönem İtalyasının siyasal yapısı göz önünde bulundurularak incelenmiştir. Ardından Machiavelli’nin insan doğası hakkındaki görüşlerinin siyaset kuramındaki veya daha kapsamlı bir ifadeyle, Machiavelli’nin toplumsal düzenin oluş aşamasından başlayarak kurduğu tüm devlet sistemi üzerindeki etkisi incelenmiştir. Bu çerçevede çalışmanın temel argümanı, Machiavelli’nin siyaset kuramını rasyonel, kötü, bencil ve kurnaz olarak tanımladığı insan doğası düşüncesine paralel olarak mutlak güç, yasa, ordu ve din üzerinden oluşturduğudur. Bu çerçevede çalışma ayrıca, literatürdeki Machiavelli hakkında yapılan farklı değerlendirmelere ve Machiavelli’nin genel siyaset teorisi üzerine farklı bir bakış açısı oluşturmaya çalışmaktadır.
This study explores how Niccolò Machiavelli’s political philosophy has an impact on his views of human nature. First of all, the idea of Machiavelli’s human nature and the idea of Machiavelli’s virtu and fortuna concepts were studied taking into account the philosophical foundations of the Renaissance and the political structure of Italy in that period. Then the influence of Machiavelli’s views on the human nature in political theory, or in a more comprehensive expression, was studied on the entire state system that Machiavelli established from the stage of social order. In this context, the basic argument of the study is that Machiavelli defined the political theory as rational, evil, selfish and intelligent, parallel to the thought of human nature, it formed by absolute power, law, army and religion. The study in this framework also tries to create a different perspective on the various assessments made about Machiavelli in literature and the general political theory of Machiavelli.
This study examines that the effects of Machiavelli’s view of human nature on his political philosophy. Primarily, Machiavelli's ideas and assumptions on human nature and his novel concepts of virtu and fortuna are examined by taking into consideration the philosophical essentials of Renaissance and the Italian political structure in that era of time. Then, the effects of Machiavelli's views on human nature on his political theory, or more comprehensively, on the whole state system that is envisioned by him since the formation of social order are also examined in that part of the study. In this sense, the main argument raised in this study is that Machiavelli has developed his own political theory based on absolute power, law, army and religion with reference to his view of human nature depicted by him as rational, evil, selfish and cunning. In this context, the study also tries to creat different perspectives on different reviews about Machiavelli in the literature and on the general political theory of Machiavelli.
