Introduction: Football was one of the sports that interest the most in young, adults and eldery people. The diet of a player must meet energy costs, provide adequate balance of protein, fat and carbohydrates and achieve the micronutrients recommendation. Improper eating habits, specially in macronutrients content cause performace apairment such as early fatigue and increased recovery time. This reseach has the aim of evaluating the dietary profile and verify the adequacy of daily caloric intakes of the macronutrients and micronutrients in the football players. Methodology: It was a field study, transversal and descriptive in which 9 teenagers were evaluated, all males, from 15 to 17 years of age, from the amateur soccer school of the Sport Club São João da Barra do Rio de Janeiro. A survey of dietary data was made, with a food frequency questionnaire and dietary record. Results: the average consumption of energy ingest by the athletes was 5725,25 Kcal, the average consumpition of protein grams was 175,44 g/day, of the carbohydrates was 835,42 g/day and fat was 186,89 g/day. Discussion: Adequate food and nutrition has key roles in optimizing the ability to perform any type of exercise, regardless of age or type physical activity. Young athletes should be towards the importance of nutritional adequacy for improved health and performance. Conclusion: The nutritional intervention and the performance of the dietiant are of utmost importance in this field. It is necessary that there is a greater integration of the diettitian in attention to young people practicing physical activities.
