Abstract:

In the 21st century, expressed as the "Cities Century", the cities faced a much higher growth tendency due to their capacity as a result of the intense immigration wave, making the cities the center of many problems, including environmental disruptions, energy problems, food deficiency, air and water pollution, and poverty, inequality, exclusion. During this process, urban sustainability has emerged as an approach that deals with urban sustainability and aims to make cities more viable, fair and comprehensive living spaces. Urban sustainability, which is the subject of the study, is seen as a very important effort in the point of leaving lively cities for future generations. There are a need for stable steps to ensure urban sustainability in economic, physical, administrative, environmental and social dimensions, taking into account all these dimensions. However, studies show that urban sustainability is relatively backward in the social dimension. Therefore, the aim of the study is to illuminate the social dimension that it is considered to be relatively backward and to highlight the importance of urban sustainability. The research was carried out in the area of the city of Izmir and the results were assessed.
