Abstract:

The research aims to determine the career perceptions of tourism guidance students. For this purpose, the research has adopted a quantitative method The study’s sampling is determined by the easy sampling method of non-probability-based sampling types. In this context, tourism guidance at the public universities in Turkey constitutes a sample of 406 students who continue to study in pre-graduate, undergraduate and master programs. The survey was used as a data collection technique. The data was obtained on the online platform from January 2020 to March 2020. The obtained data has been applied to factor, correlation, variance analysis (ANOVA), aggregation and multi-compatibility analysis. The findings show that tourism guidance students' career perceptions are gathered in six dimensions, including "business nature", "business difficulty", "business value", "economic return", "religious freedom of expression" and "respect"; they hear the desire to do a career in the guidance profession for all other factors other than the reputation dimension. Students' career perceptions are generally in the middle and high level range, while compared by higher education levels, the degree level students' career perceptions are higher than others. Another finding is that male students have a higher professional career perception than women. Finally, the students have found that the English language is the first among the languages they want to get a work card in the future, followed by the Russian and Spanish, they want to serve as a regional guide and in the context of specialization in the future they want to prefer the areas of archaeology, gastronomy, art history and cultural heritage.
