Abstract:

The teaching activities in schools occur with the reunification of many components. One of the components of the teaching activities is the teaching books. Although the curriculum books are defined as a material resource that helps in the processing of the course, in fact the curriculum books have an important place as a basic resource in learning-learning activities. In this study, thanks to the connections that geographical and historical elements have shared the same geography for centuries, social information lessons studied in the schools of Turkey and Iran, which are in constant cultural, political, economic and security interaction with each other, have been compared in terms of the design size. The study revealed the strong and weak aspects of the design in both countries' curricula books. The work is performed using visual analysis through document examination of research methods. The research work group constitutes 7th-class Social Information curriculum books taught in Turkey and Iran in the 2019-2020 educational and teaching year. The social information of both countries was analyzed using the scale "Visual Design Principles" developed by the data obtained in the 7th-class curriculum books. The study was conducted directly from the teaching books. The results of the study were collected under 5 titles in the form of visual objects design, page design, text design, cover design and external structure characteristics.
