Abstract:

The Covid 19 pandemic has been recorded as a historic epidemic that has been in the first place of the world agenda since December 2019 and has led the countries to serious impact in many areas of economic, social, political, health, education, law and other areas. The aim of our study is to investigate whether the pandemic affects the profitability of participating banks. In the framework of this goal, the profits and damages of the participating banks in Turkey for the periods before and after the pandemic began. As the method of the study, the profitability of participating banks prior to the pandemic was compared by the profit and loss tables of each quarter of 2019 with the profit and loss tables of each quarter of 2020. In view of the fact that every crisis in the world has a significant negative impact on people and institutions in many areas, the economic crisis caused by the Covid 19 pandemic, unlike the expected, has not affected the profitability of the participating banks in a negative way, and has also been found that the profitability of the participating banks has increased after the pandemic start. The fact that the profitability of participating banks has not been affected negatively by the pandemic is a sign that the profitability policies of participating banks are correct and that their customers are satisfied with the participating banks as well as in the pandemic process. It is extremely important for the participating banks to continue the same policies to increase their profitability further. While the pandemic continues, the participating banks must continue their work in all areas with determination. As it is difficult to determine exactly when the pandemic truth will end, the participating banks will be able to get the profit rate to a better position along with the pandemic, so if they can determine their road maps very well, they will be able to get the way much faster in the positive sense.
