Abstract:

Infectious diseases are an important factor with a destructive effect on social and political minds. In some cases, the punishment of God is also considered a punishment. The epidemic diseases, which are essentially ageing with the world, have arisen for a reason and their effects have continued in different ways until today. The Ottoman state is also among the states seriously affected by this epidemic. Mardin, the border neighborhood of the Middle East, is a mustarip city in this regard. Mardin is the center of epidemic diseases, especially due to the border trade with Syria, Iraq and Egypt before Ottoman. The aim of this study is to include the measures taken against the zürevial diseases and diseases seen in Mardin during the transition from the late Ottoman to the early Republic. While some diseases are widely placed, some diseases are superficially assessed because their effects are small. The study also discussed the pathology of epidemic diseases seen in the Ottoman and Republic periods in Mardin. As a method in the study, the Prime Minister of the Ottoman and the Republic Archive followed a quantitative path by taking advantage of local and national press and memoirs.
