Abstract:

One of the pioneer poets of 17th century, in which there were many poets created successful works having different features, was Nesati of Edirne. There are some uncertainities and hesitations related to ghazal with redif “su (water)”, which has been considered to be a “nazire (imitative/(parallel)” poem to “Su Kasidesi (Qasida of Water)” of Fuzuli, in terms of both its being a “nazire” and its belonging to Nesati of Edirne. The possibility of the poem’s being a nazire seems to be so weak due to its the form and genre. Besides the point of its belonging to Nesati of Edirne presents an uncertain situation because of not only its absence in all the copies of Divan and all the poetry collections except one but also its being the only gazel having 9 couplets in Divan. This uncertainity becomes clearer by the explanations in the sources about presence of poets having pseudonym of Nesati. In addition to all these uncertainities, when analyzing the word choice of poet in ghazal comparing with the vocabulary of Divan as a whole it seems the poem would probably not written by Nesati of Edirne. In this study, one of the ghazals in his Divan which is thought to be written as a “nazire (imitative poem)” to “Su Kasidesi (Qasida of Water)” of Fuzuli, is first to be analyzed briefly within the context of “nazire” tradition and then its belonging to Nesati of Edirne is to be discussed.
