Abstract:

About a century after the first book of the Turkish press in Istanbul was published, the first example of Turkish newspapers was published. In 1831 the Calendar-i Vekayi newspaper was published as the official publication body of the state. After about 30 years, this time the first Turkish private newspapers began to come out. In the history of the Turkish press, the most influential figures in the beginning of the "Turkish private newspapers" are Ibrahim Shinasi Efendi. Sinasi, one of the pioneers of the typical Tanzimat lights, tried to recognize the West in its place and defended the Westernization of the Ottoman Society. Shinasi, a multidisciplinary illuminator, tried to establish his own matba and newspaper after a period of translator-i Ahval's publication as a believer that the public can be enlightened through the newspapers; as one believed that the public can be created.   As a result of Shinasi's intense work, Tasvir-i Efkâr Gazetesi, which began its broadcasting life in 1862, has an important place in the Turkish press. As well as a news journalism, this newspaper, which also attracted attention as an idea newspaper, has later seen it as a school function for many Turkish young people who are going to publish their own newspapers. Despite all the difficulties, Tasvir-i Efkâr continued to publish for seven years.

About a century later the first Turkish printing book, the first Turkish newspaper published in İstanbul. Takvim-i Vekayi published in 1831 as an official periodical publication of the Ottoman State. About thirty years later, this time the first non – official Turkish newspapers began to publish. İn the beginning “Turkish non-oficcial newspapers age” İbrahim Şinasi Efendi was the top of the most effective persons. He was a typical Tanzimat intellectual whom tried to recognize the West and defended the Westernization of the Ottoman Society. Şinasi, as a sophisticated intellectual, believed that people can be illuminated by newspapers. He tried to establish his own printing press and started a newspaper of his own after he had administered the Tercüman-ı Ahval publication as editor. As a result of Şinasi’s intensive working Tasvir-i Efkâr which started publishing in 1862 has an important place in The Turkish press. İt has been atracted attention a news journal as well as a comment journal and for many Turkish young people Tasvir-i Efkâr has a school function. Despite all the difficulties Tasvir-i Efkâr went on its publishing for seven years.
