Comparative literature plays a great role in identifying and generalizing common literary canons. Particularly, typological research dealing with the exploration of similarities between literature having no direct contact can be fruitful in theory generation. The article is devoted to a critical assessment of the classification of the typological affinities and provides examples from English and Uzbek works of literature. The peculiarities of each type of similarity are also analyzed. D.Dyurishin emphasizes that commonality occurs based on three different factors, and the similarities are divided into three groups: socio-typological, literary-typological, and psychological-typological. The root of the similarity in the works can be explained by the similar environment in the society to which the creators belong; by the similar literary atmosphere; psychological likeliness between the artists. This research offers the classification of psychological typological affinities into three subtypes based on similarities in the artistic personalities, aesthetic ideals and common experience of the artists. The paper contains examples from English, American and Uzbek literature to each type of affinity.
