Abstract:

The Events of 6-7 September 1955, which have an important place in the history of the Republic, are an event that took place in the recent history of Turkey and deeply affected the other ethnic constituent, especially the Greeks, living within the borders of the country. The events started after the news that a bomb had been dropped on the house where Mustafa Kemal Pasha was born in Thessaloniki and the Turkish Consulate. First of all, the events that started with the shouting of slogans by a small crowd gathered in Beyoglu, Istanbul, suddenly turned into looting and pillage, and the events that included the events of September 6-7 in the literature took place. The Cyprus problem was shown as the reason for the uprising of the large masses of the people. Afterwards, the Association of Turkish Cyprus, which was seen as one of the responsible for the events, was banned from all its activities, the leading figures of the Community were arrested and their properties were confiscated. As a result of long trials, the members of the association were released. In this study, the establishment phase and activities of the Association of Turkish Cyprus, the activities of the leading names of the community in the process leading up to the Events of 6-7 September, and whether the members of the society had an impact on the emergence of the events, were tried to be revealed on the basis of archival documents and the media of the period.
