Abstract:

Bu araştırmanın amacı, matematiksel modelleme etkinlikleriyle zenginleştirilen bir öğretim uygulamasının ortaokul beşinci sınıf öğrencilerinin matematik dersindeki akademik başarılarına etkisini incelemektir. Deneysel yöntemin ön test-son test kontrol gruplu modelinin kullanıldığı araştırma, 2012-2013 eğitim öğretim yılında Erzurum ili Palandöken ilçesindeki bir ortaokulun 55 beşinci sınıf öğrencisi ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Öğretim, deney grubunda (28 öğrenci) matematiksel modelleme etkinliklerine dayalı olarak, kontrol grubunda (27 öğrenci) ise matematiksel modelleme etkinliklerinin yer almadığı mevcut programa göre gerçekleştirilmiştir. Geçmiş yıllara ait Parasız Yatılılık ve Bursluluk Sınav sorularıyla oluşturulan başarı testi her iki gruba da ön test ve son test olarak uygulanmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda, matematiksel modelleme etkinlikleriyle yapılan öğretimin, matematiksel modelleme etkinliklerinin yer almadığı programa göre öğretim uygulamasından, akademik başarıyı artırmada daha etkili olduğu tespit edilmiştir.Elde edilen bulgulara dayanarak, öğrencileri tek düzelikten uzaklaştıran matematiksel modelleme etkinliklerinin, ders ortamlarında uygulanmasını artırmaya yönelik daha fazla çalışmaya yer verilmesi gerektiği söylenebilir.

The impact of the mathematical modeling effects on the academic achievements of students in mathematics

Abstract:

The aim of this research is to study the impact of a teaching practice enriched with mathematical modeling activities on the academic achievements of high school fifth class students in mathematics. The research used the pre-test-final test control group model of the experimental method was conducted with 55th-class students of a secondary school in the Erzurum or Palandöken district in the 2012-2013 educational year. The teaching was carried out on the basis of the mathematical modeling activities in the experimental group (28 students) and in the control group (27 students) according to the current program where the mathematical modeling activities are not included. The success test, created with the questions of the previous years of Money-free Investment and Scholarship Examination, was applied to both groups as a pre-test and final test. The research has found that teaching with mathematical modeling activities is more effective in increasing academic success than teaching practice compared to the program where mathematical modeling activities are not included.On the basis of the findings obtained, it can be said that mathematical modeling activities that distract students from one level should be involved in more study to enhance their application in the curriculum environment.
