Abstract:

Dramatic writing is one of the core stones of the stage arts education along with play and stage design. Today, this training is continued in parallel with the change and transformation of the theatrical aesthetics. There is also a dramatic scripture field within the theatre education at the bachelor level in Turkey, which began in 1964 and is continued today at the bachelor level at eight universities, including Ankara University, Atatürk University, Nine September University, Istanbul University, Kocaeli University, Süleyman Demirel University, Uludağ University and the Century Year University. The nature of education that requires improvement and updating requires the knowledge of the conditions that exist to create a debate ground. In this sense, it is important to discover the areas that need support or strong areas. This study aims to study the current conditions of Dramatic Writing Education in Turkey and to create the basic demography, to provide the ground for a possible discussion. The quality research method is used in the case study pattern. Seven universities participated in the research that actively continued Dramatic Writing Education. The data collected through profoundly semi-configured discussions has been resolved in three stages: preparation, analysis and coding. The findings were presented by sample in the context of research questions in the organizations of the units, staff, capacity, space qualifications. The findings of the study showed that the classrooms in Dramatic Writing Education are not able to meet the needs numerically and functionally, that staff assigned to the relevant units is insufficient, that the student content is less or more directly affects the education. It is also understood that the units, internships and practical work activities are seen as a key element in the student's career development.
