Tarihî roman, romantizm akımının etkisiyle gelişmiş bir roman türüdür. Sir Walter Scott bu türün Batı edebiyatındaki öncüsü olarak kabul edilmektedir. Türk edebiyatında ise Yeniçeriler (1872) isimli eseriyle Ahmet Mithat Efendi ve daha sonra Batılı tarzda ilk tarihî romanımız olarak kabul edilen Cezmi (1880) ile Namık Kemal, bu türün öncüleri olarak kabul edilmektedir. Tarihten alınan olay, kahraman, zaman gibi malzemelerin kurgusal olarak işlenmesi tarihî romanın temelini oluşturmaktadır. Bu türün amacı okuyucuya tarihi sevdirmek ve okuyucuda bir tarih şuuru oluşturmaktır. Bu amaçla tarihî roman türü içerisinde denizcilikle ilgili romanlar da kaleme alınmış ve ilgiyle okunmuştur. Bu çalışmada bazı denizcilik tarihi ile ilgili romanlardan hareketle bu romanların temel yapı unsurlarındaki benzerlikler ve farklılıklar ortaya çıkarılmaya çalışılmış, romanların içeriğine yansıyan bazı noktalara dikkat çekilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, denizcilik üzerine yazılmış Türk romanlarının zaman, mekân, şahıs kadrosu ve yapı olarak genellikle benzer özellikler taşıdığı görülmüştür. Ayrıca roman kahramanı olan Türk korsanlarının klasik korsan anlayışına uymadığı, yazarların Türk korsanlarını Osmanlı donanması içerisinde farklı bir yerde gördükleri dikkat çekmiştir. Çalışmamızda, incelenen romanlar içerisinde, genel sanat görüşlerinden farklı bir anlayışla eser veren yazarlar ve eserleri de tespit edilmiştir.
The historical novel is a type of novel developed under the influence of the romantic movement. Sir Walter Scott is accepted as the pioneer of this genre in Western literature. In Turkish literature, Ahmet Mithat Efendi with his work Yeniçeriler (1872) and later Namık Kemal with Cezmi (1880), which is considered to be our first historical novel in Western style are considered to be pioneers of this genre. The fictional processing of materials such as event, hero, time taken from history forms the basis of the historical novel. The aim of this genre is to make the reader love history and to create a historical consciousness in the reader. For this purpose, within the historical novel genre, novels about maritime were also written and read with interest. In this study, based on some of the novels about maritime history, the similarities and differences in the basic structural elements of these novels were tried to be revealed and some points reflected in the content of the novels were pointed out. As a result, it has been seen that Turkish novels written on maritime generally have similar characteristics in terms of time, place, characters and structure. In addition, It draws attention that the Turkish pirates, who are the heroes of the novel, do not conform to the classical understanding of pirates, and that the authors see Turkish pirates in a different place within the Ottoman navy. In our study, among the examined novels, the authors who produced works with a different understanding from the general art views and their works were also identified.
