The main objective of gaming is to motivate people to change behavior or develop skills (Hunicke vd., 2004). The aim of this study is to explore the impact of playful education supported by physical activity in middle school students on the level of word knowledge in English learning. The study included a total of 59 students, including 29 girls and 30 men, with an average age of 9.69±0.46 years. Students were randomly divided into two groups, playing-backed training (FADOE) (n=27) and traditional training (GE)(n=32) with physical activity. A word knowledge test (Vocabulary) was applied before and after the application. The groups were given three hours of English lessons a week for 16 weeks. The GE group was taught 3 hours a week with traditional method, and the FADOE group 2 hours a week with traditional 1 hour with physical activities aimed at improving basic motor skills. The FADOE group applied leadership tables and success certification methods from playing elements. The GE group was given traditional narrative, question-response and group work used in English education. As a result, a statistically significant increase (p=.01) in the word knowledge level of the FADOE group was observed, while there was no significant difference in the GE group (p=.52). In light of the findings obtained from this study, it may be recommended to use the physical activity-backed play-making method as an innovative method that allows permanent learning in foreign language learning, thus increasing motivation and lesson commitment.
