Trade unions, which were established in order to protect and develop the common economic and social rights and interests of employees and employees, were born as male sovereigns and have maintained this sovereignty until today. Trade unions in Turkey were legally established in 1947 by the entry into force of " The Law on Workers' and Employers' Unions and the Law Trade Union Associations" in accordance with the law no. 5018. Union membership of women in working life is very low and it is known that there is little to be absent in the compulsory organs of unions. In the study conducted to investigate the problems that women face in taking an active role in unions, a literature review was conducted first. In this study, the Ministry of Labour and Social Security and the Turkey Statistical Institute data were used. According to the results of the study, the primary problem of women is the low level of union membership. The most important reason why women's union membership is at low levels is that almost half of the women in employment are informal. Most women with low education work in unskilled, job-lacking small workplaces in the field, where unionization is virtually impossible. Problems include the inability of women to spare time for union activities due to their responsibilities towards their homes and families, lack of knowledge about union and union rights, gender discrimination and constraints created by a patriarchal society, and the lack of self-confidence of women.
