ORTAOKUL 8. SINIF ÖĞRENCİLERİNİN TÜRKÇE DERS VE ÇALIŞMA KİTAPLARINDAKİ YABANCI SÖZCÜKLERİ ANLAMA VE KULLANMA DÜZEYLERİ

Abstract:

Bu araştırma, öğrencilerin 8. Sınıf Türkçe ders ve çalışma kitaplarında geçen yabancı sözcükleri anlama ve kullanma düzeylerini belirlemek amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Öğrencilerin Türkçeyi doğru kullanabilmeleri için zengin bir sözcük dağarcığına sahip olmaları gerekir. Bu hedefe ulaşmalarının iki önemli ortamı ders ve çalışma kitabıdır. Öğrenciler ders kitaplarındaki metinleri okuyup inceleyerek, çalışma kitaplarında da öğrendiği sözcüklerle çeşitli etkinlikler yaparak sözcük dağarcıklarını zenginleştirirler. Böylece Türkçeyi doğru, özenle ve güvenle kullanma alışkanlığı kazanırlar. Araştırmada, öğrencilerin Türkçe ders ve çalışma kitaplarında yer alan 33 yabancı sözcüğü duyma sıklıkları, anlamlarını bilip bilmedikleri ve doğru kullanılıp kullanılmadıkları belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Araştırmanın verileri, 2013-2014 öğretim yılı bahar yarıyılı sonunda ortaokulların 8. sınıfında okuyan 620 öğrenciden elde edilmiştir. Araştırma bulgularına göre öğrencilerin büyük bir kısmının bu sözcükleri duymadıkları, Türkçe dersinde görmüş olmalarına karşın sözcüklerin anlamlarını bilmedikleri ve anlamlı bir tümce içinde kullanamadıkları anlaşılmıştır. Bu sonuca göre 8. Sınıf Türkçe ders ve çalışma kitaplarının söz varlığı açısından hangi özellikleri taşımaları gerektiği tartışılarak önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

Abstract:

This study includes students 8. The class was carried out with the aim of determining the levels of understanding and use of foreign words in the Turkish lessons and study books. Students need to have a rich vocabulary to be able to correctly use Turkish. The two main environments for achieving this goal are the lesson and the workbook. Students enrich their vocabulary by reading and studying the texts in the lessons, and by doing various activities with the words they learn in the workshops. Thus, they gain the habit of using Turkey correctly, carefully and safely. In the study, students were trying to determine the frequency of listening to 33 foreign words in the Turkish curriculum and study books, whether they know their meaning or not, and whether they were correctly used or not. The data of the study was obtained from 620 students studying in the 8th grade of high school at the end of the spring semester of the 2013-2014 academic year. The research finds that the majority of students have not heard these words, although they have seen them in the Turkish lesson, they do not know the meaning of the words and they cannot use them in a meaningful text. According to this conclusion 8. Class Turkish lessons and workbooks are recommended by discussing what characteristics they should carry in terms of the existence of the word.

8th Grade Students’ Comprehension and Use Level Of The Foreign Words In Turkish Course and Workbooks

This research was carried out to determine 8th grade students’ level of comprehension and use of foreign words in Turkish course and workbooks. Students need to have a rich vocabulary repertoire to use Turkish correctly. The two important environments for achieving this goal are the course and workbook. By reading and examining the texts in the coursebooks, the students enrich their vocabulary by doing various activities with the words they learned in the workbooks. Thus, they acquire the habit of using Turkish correctly, diligently and safely. In this study, the frequency of hearing the foreign words in Turkish lessons and workbooks, and whether they knew their meanings and whether they were used correctly or not, were tried to be determined. The data of the study were obtained from 620 students studying in the 8th grade of secondary schools at the end of the spring semester of 2013-2014 academic year. According to the findings of the research, it was understood that most of the students hadn’t heard these words before and they did not know the meaning of the words and could not use them in a meaningful sentence. According to this result, it has been debated which features should be included in the 8th grade Turkish courses and workbooks in terms of the existence of vocabulary and the necessary suggestions have been put forth.
