Abstract:

The study was carried out to determine the opinions of the primary school teachers about the early reading and writing education of primary school 1st grade students who started face-to-face education in the pandemic. The case study design of the qualitative research approach was adopted, and 20 primary school teachers who taught 1st grade in Trabzon in the 2021-22 academic year were included with the convenient sampling method. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with classroom teachers and these interviews were analyzed with descriptive analysis. As a result of the analysis; Primary school teachers stated that they had the most difficulty in teaching Turkish lessons due to the fact that the students were not early reading and writing for the first time in the face-to-face lessons during the pandemic. Primary school teachers stated that the first grade students were not ready to early reading and writing because their muscles were not sufficiently developed during the pandemic, and that they had the most difficulty in the early reading and writing initiation and progression stages.
