Oyun, insanlık tarihi boyunca süregelmiş bir eğlence ve öğreti aracıdır. Bilgisayar teknolojisindeki gelişmeler ve akıllı cihazların yaygınlaşması ile birlikte, çoğunlukla fiziksel aktiviteye dayanan birçok oyunun yerini yardımcı bir konsol ve ekran aracılığı ile oynanan dijital oyunlar almıştır. Özellikle dünya genelinde yaygınlaşan internet kullanımı ile birlikte oyuncuların eş zamanlı katılım sağlayıp sosyal etkileşimde bulunabildiği çevrimiçi oyunlara olan ilgi her geçen gün artmaktadır. Bir dijital oyunun oluşturulması aşaması; oyun senaryosu, oyun motoru, karakter tasarımı, mekân tasarımı, arayüz tasarımı, ses tasarımı, prototip ve test aşamaları gibi çok katmanlı ve disiplinlerarası bir süreç gerektirmektedir. Dijital oyunların görsel elemanlarının tasarlanması sürecinde tasarımcılar, grafik tasarım temel ilke ve öğeleri doğrultusunda tasarladıkları oyun grafikleriyle aynı zamanda görsel bir anlatım dili de oluşturmaya çalışmaktadırlar. Bu sayede verilmek istenen mesaj, anlam, hissiyat ve öğretiler oyunculara görsel anlatım yoluyla aktarılabilmektedir. Dijital oyun tasarımında yer alan anlam aktarımları, benzetmeler ve yönlendirme ile birlikte etkiyi, iknayı ve oyuncu motivasyonunu artırmak için metafor, metonimi, kişileştirme ve sinekdoş gibi görsel retorik figürlerinden sıklıkla yararlanılmaktadır. Bu çalışma ile günümüzde en çok oynanan dijital oyunların tasarımları, görsel retorik figürleri açısından irdelenmeye ve örneklerle açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır.

The game is a continued entertainment and teaching tool throughout human history. With the advances in computer technology and the spread of smart devices, many games mainly based on physical activity have been replaced by a console and digital games played through a screen that helps. The interest in online games, especially with the worldwide widespread use of the internet, is increasing every day, where players can participate simultaneously and interact with social media. The stage of creating a digital game requires a multi-layer and interdisciplinary process such as game scenario, game engine, character design, space design, interface design, audio design, prototype and test stages. During the design process of the visual elements of digital games, designers try to create a visual narrative language with the game graphics they design according to the basic principles and elements of graphic design. Through this, the message, meaning, feelings and teachings to be given can be transmitted to the players through visual narration. Significant transmissions, comparisons and guidelines included in the digital game design are often used by visual retorical figures such as metafor, methony, personification and sinekdoş to increase influence, conviction and player motivation. With this study, the designs of today’s most played digital games have been tried to be illustrated in terms of visual retorical figures and explained by examples.

With the advances in computer technology and the widespread use of mobile devices, many games that are mostly based on physical activity have been replaced by digital games played through an auxiliary console and screen. Especially with the widespread use of the internet throughout the world, the interest in online games where players can participate and interact socially is increasing day by day. The stage of creating a digital game; It requires a multi-layered and interdisciplinary process such as game scenario, game engine, character design, game space design, interface design, sound design, prototype and test stages. In the process of designing the visual elements of digital games, designers are trying to create a visual expression language with the game graphics they designed in line with the basic principles and elements of graphic design. In this way, the message, meaning, feelings and teachings desired to be given can be conveyed to the actors through visual expression. Visual rhetoric figures such as metaphor, metonym, personification and synagogue are frequently used to increase the effect, persuasion and player motivation, along with the transfer of meaning, metaphors and guidance in digital game design. With this study, the designs of the most played digital games today are examined in terms of their visual rhetoric figures and explained with examples.
