Abstract:

The aim of this research is to identify the factors that affect the patient’s private hospital preference as a healthcare consumer. The data was easily obtained by using the face-to-face survey technique from 390 individuals living in the Diyarbakır province center through sampling. The analysis of data has taken advantage of the explicative factor analysis and identificative statistical techniques. The results of the research show that the participants preferred a private hospital, taking into account the quality of service, experience and success, cost, reputation, satisfaction, access/transfer ease factors, and there were significant differences between the participants’ preferences according to demographic variables. Participants according to different age groups, the quality of service and reputation factors; the reputation factors according to different civic conditions and educational levels; the quality of service, cost and reputation factors according to different income groups; and according to different social security groups, the quality of service and reputation factors differ significantly. According to the gender variable, there is no significant difference between the groups. According to the results of the research, the participants are preferred to private hospitals, taking into account the quality of the service and reputation factors of the hospital.
