Abstract:

One of the most important decisions made throughout life is career decisions.While making a career decision, the individual chooses the one that is suitable for their interest, ability, value and personality among the alternative options their creates, thus forming their career and thus their career life. In this study, it is pointed out that family effects shape the career decision and career process of individuals, especially in the career process. From this point of view, it is aimed to investigate whether university students' career decision making competencies and family effects on career decision and career stress show a significant relationship with each other. The group of the research consists of students studying at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University in the 2019-2020 academic year. The sample of the study is; a total of 500 participants consisted of 284 women and 216 men.The research is a descriptive study based on correlational survey model. The research data were obtained with Career Decision-Making Competence Scale, Career Stress Scale, Family Impact On Career Decision Scale and Personal Information Form developed by the researcher. Multiple regression analysis were used in the analysis of the data. As a result of the study, it is determined that there are significant correlations between competence perception of career decision-making and career stress negatively and moderate; competence perception of career decision- making and family impact on career decision positively and low-level. In consequence of multiple regression analysis, it is concluded that competence of career decision-making is affected in significant level and at the rate of 14% by career stress and level of family predict on career decision.
