Abstract:

Language scientists have measured a quality translation by how much source text loses value during its target text translation. The task of the translator here is to be able to communicate the feeling the author wants to give the source text to the reader, to the target language reader. During the translation, it is a matter of both formal and content, i.e. a meaningful conversion between the source language and the target language. In some cases, there may not be a word in the target language that can give the expression in the vocabulary meaning that the source language has. At this time, you may need to apply to the source content. In such translations the theory of conversion (transformation) is active. In this study, Anton Pavlovich Chehov’s work “The Sixth Count” (Palate N:6) is studied. The original of the work is based on the three translations made into Turkish and is comparable under the roof of the theory of vocabulary transformation. In this context, comparative analysis of the translations published by Mehmet Özgül in 1996, Yulva Muhurcişi in 2017 and Uğur Büke in 2022 from the works translated by Chehov in Turkish, examined the applicability of the theory of word-inclusive transformation on translations.
