Abstract:

In the Turkish social structure, the phenomenon of domestic violence hasined its presentness in almost every period. In this regard, the phenomenon of domestic violence, which is one of the most important problems in our country, has also reflected in the Turkish cinema and has kept the light of the deep traces of the Turkish social structure. Therefore, while searching for the traces of domestic violence in the Turkish cinema, it can also allow the disclosure of messages about domestic relations in the Turkish social structure. This study aims to determine how domestic violence is presented in the popular Turkish cinema after 2000. In line with this objective, the film is determined to be taken into the work scope in the "family violence" phenomenon axis by the standard sample method. In this context, the Muslim (2018) film, in which the family violence between reality and fiction is tragedically presented, is analyzed by a Greimasist indicative approach. As a result of this analysis, the main elements that influence the foundation of the phenomenon of domestic violence in the Turkish cinema: socio-cultural and economic causes, substance addiction and a paternal family ideology. In this case, the Turkish cinema is one of the most important problems in the Turkish social structure; it is clear that the patriarchal family ideology, material addiction and domestic violence have been rebuilt and therefore the system has been rebuilt.
