Öğretmen Adaylarının Duygusal Zekaları ile Demokratik Algı ve Tutumları Arasındaki İlişkinin İncelenmesi

Bu araştırmada öğretmen adaylarının duygusal zeka ile demokratik algı ve tutumlarının cinsiyet, okul türü ve anne-baba eğitim durumuna göre değerlendirilmesi ve öğretmen adaylarının duygusal zekaları ile demokratik algı ve tutumları arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Betimsel nitelikte olan araştırmada tarama modellerinden ilişkisel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 314 öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın verileri Tutkun ve Genç (2013) tarafından geliştirilen “Demokratik Algı ve Tutum Ölçeği” ile Tatar, Tok ve Saltukoğlu (2011) tarafından Türkçeye uyarlanan “Gözden Geçirilmiş Schutte Duygusal Zeka Ölçeği” ile toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde aritmetik ortalama, standart sapma gibi betimleyici istatistiklerin yanı sıra Mann Whitney U testi, Kruskall Wallis H testi ve korelasyon analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda duygusal zeka ile demokratik algı ve tutumlar arasında pozitif yönde anlamlı bir ilişkinin bulunduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca öğretmen adaylarının duygusal zekalarının bölüm ve cinsiyete, demokratik algı ve tutumlarının ise mezun olunan lise türüne göre alt boyutlar açısından anlamlı biçimde farklılaştığı tespit edilmiştir. Araştırma bulguları literatür eşliğinde tartışılmıştır.

Review of the relationship between the emotional intelligence of the teacher candidates and the democratic perception and attitudes

Abstract:

This study aims to evaluate teacher candidates’ emotional intelligence and democratic perceptions and attitudes according to gender, school type and parent-educational status and to study the relationship between teacher candidates’ emotional intelligence and democratic perceptions and attitudes. Relative scanning models have been used in the visual scanning model. The study group consists of 314 teachers candidates. The data of the study were collected with the "Democratic perception and attitude scale" developed by Passion and Young (2013) and the "Shoutte Emotional Intelligence Scale" adapted to Turkish by Tatar, Tok and Saltukoğlu (2011). In the analysis of the data, arithmetic average, standard deviation, as well as illustrative statistics were used as well as Mann Whitney U test, Kruskall Wallis H test and correlation analysis. The study found that there was a meaningful relationship between emotional intelligence and democratic perceptions and attitudes in a positive direction. It has also been found that the emotional intelligence of the teacher candidates varies significantly in terms of sub-dimensions in terms of division and gender, and the democratic perceptions and attitudes in terms of the type of high school graduated. The findings of the research were discussed in literature.

In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the relationship between pre-service teachers' democratic perceptions and attitudes and emotional intelligence levels according to gender, type of school and parents' educational status and to investigate the relationship between pre-service teachers' democratic perceptions and attitudes and emotional intelligence. In the descriptive study, relational screening model was used. The study group consisted of 314 pre-service teachers. The data of the study were collected “Democratic Perception and Attitude Scale” developed by Tutkun and Genç (2013) and “Revised Schutte Emotional Intelligence Scale” which was adapted to Turkish by Tatar, Tok and Saltukoğlu (2011). In addition to descriptive statistics such as arithmetic mean and standard deviation, Mann Whitney U test, Kruskall Wallis H test and correlation analysis were used. As a result of the research, it was found that there was a positive relationship between emotional intelligence and democratic perceptions and attitudes. In addition, it was determined that the emotional intelligence scores of the prospective teachers differed according to the department and gender, and the democratic perception and attitudes differed significantly according to the graduated high school type. The findings of the research are discussed in the light of the literature.
