Akciğer kanseri başlangıçta asemptomatik olması ve ileri evrelerde tanı konulması nedeni ile kanser türleri arasında mortalite oranı yüksektir. Tanı anında hastaların büyük bir çoğunluğunda kanser metastaz yapmış durumdadır. Olguda 59 yaşında akciğer kanseri kadın hasta bulantı, kusma ve ishal sebebi ile yeteri kadar beslenememiş, destek tedavi amacı ile dâhiliye servisine yatırılmıştır. Covid-19 sürecinde oluşabilecek komplikasyonun fazla olması nedeniyle hastanın en kısa sürede öz bakım ve öz yeterliliğini arttırmak, ihtiyaç duyduğu desteği ve oluşabilecek komplikasyonları önlemek amacı ile 1982’de Gordon tarafından geliştirilmiş “Fonksiyonel Sağlık Örüntüleri (FSÖ)” modeli kullanılarak değerlendirilmiş hemşirelik bakım planı ve girişimleri planlanmıştır. Model hastayı bir bütün olarak değerlendirmemizi, bulguları doğru, eksiksiz ve objektif şekilde toplanmasını sağlamıştır. Hastanın kendisine olan inancının arttığı, semptomları daha iyi yönetebildiği gözlendi ancak kanser tedavisi için kullanılan ilaçların yan etkilerinin devam etmesi sebebiyle şikâyetlerinde tam bir düzelme sağlanamamıştır.
Lung cancer is asymptomatic at the beginning and is diagnosed in advanced stages; thus, its mortality rate is high compared to other cancer types. At the time of diagnosis, the majority of patients have metastasis. A 59-year-old female patient with lung cancer could not nourish enough due to nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, and was hospitalized in the internal medicine unit for supportive treatment. Due to the high number of complications that may occur during the COVID-19 process, a nursing care plan was designed using the model of “Functional Health Patterns (FHP)” which was developed by Gordon in 1982 to increase the patient’s self-care and self-efficacy as soon as possible, provide the support needed, and prevent possible complications. The model enabled us to evaluate the patient as a whole and collect the findings correctly, completely, and objectively. It was observed that the patient’s self-belief increased and that she could better manage the symptoms. However, due to the continuing side effects of medication used for cancer treatment, her complaints could not be completely improved.
