Abstract:

Araştırmanın amacı, FeTeMM destekli fen öğretimi hakkında ortaokul 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin görüşlerinin belirlenmesidir. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yaklaşımlarından olan özel durum yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu, 2018-2019 eğitim öğretim yılında Antalya ili Korkuteli ilçesinde bir ortaokulda sekizinci sınıfta öğrenim gören 20 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Çalışma grubunda belirlenen altı öğrenci ile mülakat yapılmıştır. Veriler, yarı yapılandırılmış mülakat formu ile toplanmıştır. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde, içerik analizi kullanılmıştır. Öğrenciler, FeTeMM destekli fen öğretiminin tasarım yapmalarına, psikomotor becerilerinin gelişmesine ve birçok disiplini bir arada kullanmalarına katkı sağladığını belirtmişlerdir. Bunun yanı sıra etkinliklerde yer alan problem durumlarına uygun çözüm önerileri bulmalarına ve sorgulayıcı öğrenme becerilerinin gelişmesine yardımcı olduğunu ifade etmişlerdir. Ayrıca, problem çözme, uygulama, analiz ve sentez gibi üst düzey beceriler üzerinde de olumlu etkileri olduğunu dile getirmişlerdir.

Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the views of eighth-grade students on STEM-supported science teaching. This study is designed as a case study, which is among qualitative research methods. The sampling of the study consists of 20 eighth-grade students in the town of Korkuteli in the city of Antalya, Turkey, in the 2018-2019 academic year. Interviews were conducted with six students determined in the study group. Data were collected with a semi-structured interview form. Content analysis was used to analyze the data. Pupils expressed that STEM-supported science teaching enabled them to design, improve their psychomotor skills, and use multiple disciplines concurrently. In addition, they expressed that it helped them find solutions appropriate to problem situations in activities and improve their critical learning skills. Moreover, they stated that it had an effect on such advanced skills as problem-solving, practicing, analyzing, and synthesizing.
