Özel yetenekli bireylerin gereksinimlerine ve yeteneklerine uygun eğitim alması ve yeteneklerinin geliştirilmesi, bu bireylerin erken yaşlarda belirlenmesiyle doğrudan ilişkilidir. Bu nedenle ailelerin ve öğretmenlerin özel yetenekli bireylerin belirlenmesinde, bu bireylerin karakteristik özelliklerini bilmesi önemli bir bağlam oluşturmaktadır. Türkiye’de özel yetenekli öğrenciler genellikle Bilim ve Sanat Merkezine öğrenci seçim sürecinde tanılanmaktadır. Bu araştırmada özel yetenekli öğrencilerin belirlenmesi ile ilgili eğitimin öğretmenlerin bilgi düzeylerine etkisini belirlemek amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmada nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden ön test-son test kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Örneklem grubu, uygun ve seçkisiz örnekleme ile belirlenmiş 40 öğretmenden oluşmaktadır. Verilerin toplanmasında toplam 20 maddeye sahip, ortalama güçlük indeksi 0,56, ayırt edicilik indisi 0,52 ve KR-20 güvenirlik katsayısı 0,82 olan “Özel Yetenekliler ve Belirlenmeleri ile İlgili Bilgi Testi” ve katılımcıların demografik bilgilerinin sorgulandığı bir anket formu kullanılmıştır. Deney grubunda yer alan öğretmenlere uygulanmak üzere araştırmacılar tarafından “Özel Yetenekliler ve Belirlenmeleri ile İlgili Eğitim” planı hazırlanmış ve uygulanmıştır. Deney ve kontrol grubuna ait veriler özel bir istatistik programı aracılığı ile bağımlı ve bağımsız t-testleri kullanılarak ,05 anlamlılık düzeyinde karşılaştırılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, deney ve kontrol grubundaki öğretmenlerin son test bilgi düzeyleri arasında deney grubu lehine ve deney grubunun ön test ve son test puanları arasında son test lehine anlamlı bir farklılık tespit edilmiştir. Bu sonuçlar, deney grubuna verilen özel yetenekliler ve belirlenmeleri ile ilgili eğitimin öğretmenlerin özel yetenekli öğrencileri keşfetmelerinde etkili olduğunu ortaya koymaktadır.
The education of gifted individuals in accordance with their needs and abilities and the development of their abilities are directly related to identifying these individuals at an early age. For this reason, it is an essential context for families and teachers to know the characteristics of these individuals in identifying gifted individuals. In Turkey, gifted students are generally identified during the selection process for Science and Art Centers. This research aims to determine the impact of training related to the identification of gifted students on teachers' knowledge levels. This study used a quasi-experimental design with pre-test post-test control group from quantitative research methods. The sample group consisted of 40 teachers determined through convenience and random sampling. Data was collected using the " Knowledge Test Regarding Special Talents and Their Identification" survey, which has 20 items, an average distinctiveness index of 0.56, a discrimination index of 0.52, and a KR-20 reliability coefficient of 0.82. Further, a questionnaire form was used to collect participants' demographic information. A training plan on 'Special Talents and Identification' was prepared and implemented by the researchers for the teachers in the experimental group. The experimental and control group data are compared using a statistical program at a .05 significance level with dependent and independent t-tests. The research findings indicate a significant difference in favor of the experimental group in terms of the post-test knowledge levels of teachers in both the experimental and control groups. Furthermore, a significant difference was detected in favor of the post-test scores in the experimental group between the pre-test and post-test scores. These results point out that the training regarding students with special talents and their identification is effective for teachers in discovering students with special talents
