Libya’nın eğitim sistemi tarih boyunca çeşitli faktörlerden etkilenerek günümüze kadar gelmiştir. Ülkedeki eğitim faaliyetlerinin planlanmasında bir yandan ülke koşulları dikkate alınmaya diğer yandan ise dünyadaki güncel gelişmeler takip edilmeye çalışılmaktadır. Ancak eğitim öğretim süreçlerinde henüz tam olarak köklü değişiklikler yapılamamıştır. Bu durum üzerinde özellikle son yıllarda ülkedeki olumsuz siyasi gelişmelerin çok önemli etkileri olmuştur. Diğer pek çok dünya ülkesinde olduğu gibi Libya’da da coğrafya, öğretim programlarında yer alan derslerden birisidir. İnsan yaşantısı hakkında pek çok konuyu kapsaması ve insan hayatındaki öneminden dolayı coğrafya çeşitli kademelerde öğretim programlarında yer almaktadır. Libya’da coğrafya öğretimi, 4. sınıftan başlayarak 12. sınıfa kadar devam etmektedir. Belirtilenlerden hareketle, çalışmanın amacı Libya’daki coğrafya eğitiminin temel özelliklerini ortaya koymaktır. Çalışmada betimsel araştırma tasarımı ve doküman analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Libya’daki coğrafya öğretimi genel hatlarıyla, öğretmen, müfredat, ders materyalleri ve öğretim yöntemleri gibi yönlerden mevcut durum ile yaşanılan sorunlar ve konuya ilişkin öneriler açısından ele alınmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda, Libya’da coğrafya eğitiminde teorik konulara ağırlık verildiği, bu durumun öğretimde ezbere neden olduğu ve coğrafya öğretiminde uygun yöntemlerin kullanılmadığı gibi sonuçlar ile karşılaşılmıştır.
Libya’s education system has been influenced by various factors throughout history until today. In the planning of educational activities in the country, on the one hand, the country’s conditions are taken into account and on the other hand, the current developments in the world are trying to follow. However, there has not yet been a complete change in the teaching process. This has had a significant impact, especially in recent years, on negative political developments in the country. As in many other countries of the world, in Libya, geography is one of the courses included in the curriculum. Because of its coverage of many subjects about human life and its importance in human life, geography is included in the teaching programs in various stages. Geography in Libya Teaching from 4th grade. It continues until the 12th grade. Moving from the indicated, the study's objective is to reveal the basic characteristics of geographical education in Libya. In the study, visual research design and document analysis methods were used. Geography teaching in Libya has been addressed by its general lines, in terms of the problems and suggestions related to the subject from the current situation and aspects such as teachers, curriculum, teaching materials and teaching methods. The study’s results compared with the results that the theoretical issues in geography education in Libya were emphasized, that this situation caused memory in teaching and that appropriate methods were not used in geography teaching.
