Abstract:

Art has always existed in the daily life of people throughout history. However, in parallel with the changing and developing technologies, the presentation forms of art are also changing. Using virtual reality and augmented reality applications, it is aimed that art lovers interact with the artworks in an exhibition environment in these works carried out in order to include art in the lives of individuals who make up the society. Another example of augmented reality applications is the "Augmented Istanbul" mobile application within the scope of the "Istanbul the Lights" project organized in Istanbul. With this application, art lovers have met with 3-dimensional artworks produced by artists in a way that minimizes the risk of epidemics in different public and social areas of Istanbul. In this study, the use of augmented reality technologies in the field of art is emphasized. In addition, some of the digital artworks exhibited within the scope of the "Istanbul the Lights" project, which can be experienced outdoors thanks to the mobile application, were examined, and the contributions of the project to the art experience in the open space were examined.
