Abstract:

Culture is the sum of all material and spiritual values that a nation creates in time. Each nation has its own culture and it is essential that cultural elements are transferred to future generations in order to maintain the continuity of a nation. To maintain the national culture, it is necessary to place cultural elements in literary works in order to maintain the spiritual connection between generations. One of our artists who frequently participate in cultural elements in their works is Yahya Akengin. In the theatrical works of Yahya Akengin, the village and city life; turks, folk stories and poems; transitional periods (born, marriage, death, etc.). The Turkish family structure; events, cities and personalities that have been directed to Turkish history; patriot love and the characteristics of the Turkish people; religious and moral values; hospitality and neighbourhood; children's games; prayer and beddua; turbe visit, martyrdom and speed; dream interpretation and fal-magic; professions and public economy; food and dining culture; folk music and music tools; folk language, folk argos, vocabulary and vocabulary. This work was prepared to identify the elements of popular culture in Yahya Akengin's theatrical works.
