Abstract:

The foundations of learning are laid by parents, fathers and other family members. The child's moral structure, behavior development, personal development and standarts of judgment begin to develop in the family environment. For this reason, family members have more meaning in the child's life than an individual. When the educational activities in the school are not supported by family members at home, makes it difficult for them to achieve success. One of the reasons that differences of students in their educational life is the socioeconomic structure of families. For students many factors such as health conditions, eating habits, having a working environment at home and having necessary learning materials, parents' education level and professions, living culture at home are the socio-economic structure. These components directly affect the attitudes of the child towards school. The aim of this study is to examine how the socio-economic structures of families affect the attitudes of the students towards the school according to the views of teachers, students and parents. The qualitative study model was used in the case study design. Data were collected by semi-structured interview technique. In this study, maximum variation sampling method is used. 5 middle school teachers, 5 middle school students and 5 parents participated in the study. At the end of the research, students' attitudes towards school found that relevant and eager by the views of the students and parents and on the other hand students’ attitudes towards school found that reluctant and irrelevant by the views of the teachers. It was concluded that students' attitudes towards school were affected insensitivity of families to education and child development according to teachers’s views and students’ attitudes towards school were affected family structure and economic conditions according to views of students and parents. In order to increase the positive attitudes of the students towards school and to decrease their negative attitudes, it was concluded that the families should be more interested in their children according to students’ views in the socioeconomic structure of their families, according to parents’ views the support of the family members should be increased and according to teachers’ views home visits, parents meeting should be increased and families should be informed about the importance of education.
